Bach Vespers for Today

Thursday, June 23, 9 AM
Grand Ballroom B

As we move toward the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, this workshop will look at practical means of preparing and doing a Bach Vespers event. We will look at effectively choosing cantatas, motets, chant, chorales, and organ music appropriate for a specific day or theme. We will also look at issues of choral and instrumental forces, choosing solo voices, and organizing a liturgy, with a particular eye on using cantatas in the context of the modern lectionary. Questions and conversation will also be welcomed.
